Eligibility

  • Anyone 18 years and over, with landed immigrant status, or allowed to remain in Canada with the government’s intent to grant landing is eligible for our LINC and ELT programs.
  • Canadian citizens, refugee claimants and visitors are not eligible for LINC or ELT but may be able to attend ESL programs across the Region.  Please contact the nearest school for more information and a placement assessment.

Length of assessment:

  • The assessment may last from one and a half to three hours, depending on the level of the client and the type of test being used.

What to bring to the assessment:

  • Please bring original immigration documents issued by CIC:

Landed Immigrant or Permanent Resident
Convention Refugee
Government Assisted Refugee

Assessments are available by appointment at 5 different locations across the region, 6 days a week, including some evenings.

Please note that there is no childminding available during assessments.
